Colors of Water
Dawn dwells on dew.
A sun in each delicate drop,
clearly clear, creates color,
an ocean of radiant rainbows, holding hues in itself.
Blue blows upwards kisses.
Deep, deep down, drowned colors cry
to touch the stained glass sky.
Careless currents twirl tints and tones.
Royal robes run across the shimmering waves,
pulling behind the veils of a setting sun
And in their kiss,
gold wanders across the water’s wash.
The sun tucks away into a bed under blankets of blue,
stripping off a scarlet scarf,
flowing freely, to fade
into blushing cheeks of the ocean.
Silver slivers of the ocean sparkle on
ink black waters,
awaiting
intimate iridescence.

澄んだ繊細な粒すべてに宿る太陽は
その色合いを保ちながら
輝く虹の海の色を作る
海の青さは空にキスを送る

ステンドグランスの空に触れたいと叫ぶ
ありのままの海流は色彩を混ぜる
高貴なローブは揺らめく波に広げられる
夕日のベールを引きながら
そして 彼らのキスの中で
黄金は水の打ち寄せにさまよう
太陽は青い毛布の下にくるむ
赤いスカーフをとり
自由に流れながら
海の赤く染まった頬へと消えながら

about the Commission and the Premiere
This work was commissioned by the Fairfax Choral Society as a part of “Poetry of Music” project, a new choral composition project featuring newly-written texts by students of local schools. It was premiered by the Master Singers of the Choral Society directed by Patrick F. Vaughn on March 28, 2017 (VA, USA).
委嘱・初演に関して
この楽曲は米国バージニア州のFairfax Choral Socityによる地元の学校より公募された作品に曲を付けるという「Poetry of Music」プロジェクトの一環として委嘱された作品です。初演は、Fiarfax Choral SocietyのユースプログラムのThe Master Singersにより、Patrick F. Vaughnの指揮のもと、2017年3月28日に、米国バージニア州にて行われました。
